Has Jorja Fox ever actually confirmed or denied that she's gay?
Do her friends/cast members know of her sexuality or is it all still a big secret?

As far as I know she has never commented on her sexuality one way or another. I think she could be labeled as being in "the glass closet". Not denying she's gay, not pretending to be straight, just kind of an everyone knows so why even comment.
Since the majority of her friends also seem to be lesbians in the entertainment business: Heather Grody, the women in her HoneyPot Productions theatre group, Ellen Degeneres, Kirsten Holly Smith, etc..... they all must know. I've also read info on the Net from people who know Jorja's gay because they know one of her family members or friends who confirmed it.
From what I've read Jorja was quite open about being a lesbian when she was a struggling actress in NYC during the 80s and 90s. She worked at lesbian hotspot Crazy Nanny's for a while and has been linked to women, especially Suzanne Mara during that time.
I'm almost positve her CSI castmates know. I've read it's an open secret around the set that she, George Eads and Eric Szmanda are gay. She supposely isn't shy about bringing gals she's dating around the set.

There's a big difference between being a closet case who is in denial about their sexual orientation to their friends, families, and even themselves and someone who feels they must stay closeted for career purposes.
Jorja is completely out to her family, friends, and castmates. She lives the life of an out lesbian in her private life. She just doesn't scream to the world that she's gay when it comes to her public life. She's never bearded, and has even brought women with her to events.
I wish she would publicly come out - but since CSI is so popular and her character is involved in a high-profile heterosexual romance which has garnered a lot of media attention - I won't hold my breath.

Speaking of Jorja according to this video she is most probably leaving CSI at the end of this season. Maybe she will come out then.

According to TV Guide insider, Mike Ausiello, Jorja is "itching to pursue greener (and less grissly) pasturse".
And maybe she'll come out then...

I don't see how she'll get any kind of career after CSI as anything but a minor character actor, whether she comes out or not.

I'm surprised she's so private about it. Her character on ER was a lesbian and she appeared in the Ellen coming out episode. I guess it's good that she's not afraid to be associated with anything gay, but it seems strange to do some pretty high profile gay-related things and then just sit there silently in a glass closet.

"So, everyone who plays a gay character on Tv is gay?"
No, of course not. But a lot of gay actors refuse to even play gay for fear of being typecast. She obviously isn't one of them, which is great. But it's too bad she hasn't been comfortable enough to come all the way out. That's all I'm saying.

I agree R7. I like Jorja but she seems quite hypocritical. She obviously has no problem playing gay characters or putting gay content on her website as well as being proud about being a part of HoneyPot Productions. Yet, she won't acknowlege her own lesbianism. I'm not saying she has to shout it from the rooftops, but some kind of statement would be nice.
She also seems quite down on corporations, and "the man", but doesn't mind playing the corportate game with CBS and remaining closeted I assume for career purposes. Also she is quite the enviromentalist- yet she smokes like a chimney. I know that her mother died of cancer and she has appeared at various cancer charity events, so it seems like she wouldn't smoke.

"She just doesn't scream to the world that she's gay when it comes to her public life."
This is beyond stupid. Uttering the words "yes, I am a lesbian" is not a scream, it is simple honesty and self respect.

It would be great if Jorja came out, but why the hell would she NOW? If she does indeed leave CSI this season (which I seriously doubt) and is looking for new roles would the admission that she's a lesbian help her land them? I don't think so.
Someone on her IMDB.com message board who claimed to know her said a couple of years ago that she struggles with being in the closet but has understood for a long time that coming out would be murder to her career.
The only way I can see her coming out is if after CSI she focuses on producing gay-themed plays with HoneyPot Productions and producing other lesbian projects such as short films. Then possibly she might come out to a gay publication. By then though CSI will be over and done with and the general public won't care that she's gay (which most CSI Internet fans already know actually).

I don't really see how coming out would be murder to her career. I'm sure CSI will be happy to have her for as long as she wants to stay. And it's not like people are so invested in her as a romantic lead on that show that they'll start tuning out if they find out she's a lesbian. If TR Knight and Neil Patrick Harris can come out, I don't know why Jorja can't.

I really fail to see how not coming out of the closet definitively lacks self-respect. I doubt very much that a woman on lesbian magazines, playing lesbian characters and in a lesbian theatre group is really, really ashamed. But "forcing" someone to out themselves, just because other actors have done it? Why? What does it prove? It isn't about self-respect. It's about you wanting to know, and Jorja really doesn't owe you anything, especially when it comes to what goes on between her legs.

get over it people, she doesn't have to say anything. it's only because jorja's famous that public feels they have the right to know everything about her. they don't. she's hardy hypocritical, either, just cause people seem to think 'she makes it so obvious that she is gay' but doesn't say doesn't make her hypocritical. maybe she's trying to keep a part of her life to, you know, her self?!

I most definetely don't think she's hypocritical, and completely agree with both of you! She's absolutely entitled to keep her private life to herself! It's just.. She IS a public figure and so we DO want to know!! I want her to say it! It's fine is she doesn't, but.. Pleeeeeeeaaaaaase! For some reason I can't quite get my finger on, I am totally fascinated by her and that "mystery" of "is she, isn't she.. though we all know she totally is!". The only hypocritical thing I agree with (and hadn't thought about since I read this blog, really) is the smoking. Her mom DID pass away of cancer, which is terribly sad (though I'm sure it wasn't lung cancer) and that sounds like something that could be taken as motivation to stay on the healthy track.. Now, I admit I do NOT have a single clue what it's like to lose a parent to that, so what the hell do I know (and my apologies in advance to anybody who might take offense in the comment!). Anyways, Jorja's amazing and we love her (and u hate to think I might know so much about her private life, when she's not like a Lindsay Lohan, who's desperately trying to flash on everyones face everything she's going through!) but fact of the matter is.. Public figure = interest from the public. Period. If it was any other way, actors at large would be screwed!
